On Sunday, at the residence of Mr Peter and Mrs Sheila Forrest, Darwin, NorthernTerritory, the Governor- General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AMAE attended a reception hosted in their honour.Yesterday, at Larrahkeyah Barracks, Darwin, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE visited Headquarters Northern Command, where the Governor-General, as Commander-in-Chief, received an operational briefing from Commander Northern Command, Commodore David Gwyther RAN.Afterwards, in HMAS Maitland, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, in recognition of the Northern Territory€™s Navy Week, met with crew members of ASSAIL 4 and observed a series of live exercises.In the afternoon, at Government House, Darwin, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce met with the Administrator of the Northern Territory, His Honour Mr Tom PaulingAO QC and Mrs Tessa Pauling.Afterwards, the Governor-General received the Chief Justice of the Northern Territory, the Honourable Chief Justice Brian Martin QC.Later, the Governor-General received the Leader of the Opposition in the Northern Territory, Mr Terry Mills MLA.Then, the Governor-General received the Acting Chief Minister of the Northern Territory, the Honourable Delia Lawrie MLA.In the evening, at Parliament House, Darwin, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce attended a reception hosted in their honour by the Acting Chief Minister of the Northern Territory, the Honourable Delia Lawrie MLA.Yesterday morning, Her Excellency the Governor, as Patron, officially opened the 35th Professor Harry Messel International Science School (ISS) €˜Genes to Galaxies€™, at The University of Sydney.Afterwards, the Governor received His Excellency Mr Juraj Chmiel, Ambassador Extraordinary of the Czech Republic, at Government House.In the evening, Her Excellency delivered an Address at a reception for the Japanese Studies Association of Australia Conference JSAA-ICJLE 2009, jointly hosted by the Universities of Sydney and New South Wales, at the Art Gallery of New South Wales.Later, the Governor welcomed delegates to a reception for participants in the International Corporate Governance Network 2009Annual Conference and General Meeting €˜The Route Map to Reform and Recovery€™, at the Hilton Hotel.
